Do you love gardens, trees, or flowers? You should visit the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh! The arboretum has a large collection of landscape plants (plants used to make an outdoor area like your yard look pretty).

What is an arboretum?

An arboretum should be a collection of trees only, but most arboretums today also have other kinds of plants. In general, arboretums are used for scientific research, but most are also open to the public for visits.

Where is Raulston Arboretum?

The arboretum is located at 4415 Beryl Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606, near the NC State Fairgrounds and Meredith College. Click the map to get directions.

What can I do at Raulston Arboretum?

The weather is starting to get warmer now, and the arboretum will be a beautiful place to visit. Entrance to the arboretum is free, so you can have a picnic (a meal outside), you can take a walk, you can read about all the plants, or you can take a guided tour. Every Sunday, at 2:00, you can take a free tour. Just go to the Visitor Center.

When is the arboretum open?

In the fall and winter (November-March), the arboretum opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. In the spring and summer months, however (April-October), the arboretum opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m. It is open every day of the year, but the buildings (the Visitor Center and the Education Center) are closed on holidays. They also have limited hours on weekends.
